Winsor & Newton Artists' White Spirit

Artists’ White Spirit is a powerful, efficient solvent that offers a safer alternative to traditional Distilled Turpentine, with a slightly longer drying time that many artists find advantageous. Made from refined petroleum distillates, this versatile product lets you create leaner mixtures while retaining vibrant colour quality and evaporating quickly from surfaces.

Artists’ White Spirit is remarkably adaptable, making it an essential tool for many artistic applications. It excels in cleaning brushes, effectively removing paint residue to prolong the lifespan of your tools. It's also ideal for formulating custom painting mediums, giving artists the flexibility to achieve their desired consistencies and textures. It also plays a crucial role in surface preparation, helping remove varnish before reapplication—though it is not suitable for removing Dammar Varnish.

Compatible with both oil and alkyd paints, this solvent remains stable over time, ensuring it remains a reliable component of your art supplies. While Artists’ White Spirit is less hazardous than Distilled Turpentine, it still requires careful handling. Always prioritize safety and responsible disposal of any waste products to minimize environmental impact.
