Liquitex
Acrylic Ink: The Ultimate Fluid Art Medium
Liquitex Acrylic Ink stands out as a top
choice for artists seeking a highly versatile, professional-grade liquid colour.
It combines the best qualities of traditional inks and acrylic paints, offering
numerous advantages:
- Archival & Lightfast: Made
with fine art pigments, not dyes. Your artwork won't fade over time,
ensuring your creations last for generations. - Waterproof When Dry: Once
dry, it's completely permanent and water-resistant. This allows for
effortless layering without disturbing previous washes, preventing muddy colours. - Ultra-Fluid, Zero Clog: Its
low viscosity means it flows smoothly without needing to be thinned.
Perfect for delicate work in airbrushes, technical pens, dip pens, and for
precise pouring. - High Pigment Concentration:
Delivers vibrant, intense colours even when diluted. A little goes a long
way. - Versatile Application: Can
be used with brushes, airbrushes, dip pens, and technical pens for
pouring, staining, or even directly from the dropper. - Intermixable: Fully
compatible with all other Liquitex acrylic products (paints, mediums,
gels), allowing for endless creative possibilities in mixed media. - Fast-Drying: Speeds
up your workflow, allowing you to build layers and move through your
process more quickly than with traditional watercolours or oils. - Transparent to Opaque: Can
be used in thin, translucent washes for watercolour-like effects, or built
up for rich, opaque coverage.
In short, Liquitex Acrylic Ink offers artists:
- Durability:
Artwork that won't degrade. - Flexibility: Works
with almost any tool or technique. - Brilliance: Rich,
pure colours that pop.
It's an indispensable tool for illustrators,
calligraphers, mixed-media artists, and anyone looking to add vibrant,
permanent liquid colour to their work.

Description
Description
The most effective fixative is a casein-and-beeswax mixture, designed for framing without glass. This product is similar to SpectraFix Degas Fixative but offers a slightly deeper, semi-matte finish, enhanced scuff resistance, and allows light damp cleaning. It is ideal for layering, drawing, and acrylic and mixed-media applications, providing protection for delicate media such as gouache.
SpectraFix represents an excellent fixative option due to its odourless, non-toxic, and fully archival properties. Comprising casein, a milk-derived protein, and grain alcohol, it effectively secures and preserves artistic media. It retains rework ability and can be employed independently or in conjunction with Degas. Notably, it contains no toxic fumes or odours.
It is compatible with pastel, charcoal, tempera, watercolour, gouache, Conté crayon, and oil paintings. SpectraFix is favoured by professional artists for its distinctive ability to preserve pigments without permanently dulling colours. It dries swiftly and is suitable for indoor applications. However, it should not be employed with oil pastels; in such instances, the Degas fixative is recommended.
FEATURES:
- Beeswax enhances the durability of casein, providing a moisture-resistant, robust finish.
- Semi-Matte Finish: Has a slightly richer tone than Degas Fixative and features a smoother surface.
- Non-Yellowing, All-Natural Formula: Archival quality with no fumes.
- Versatile Application: Ideal for use as a final protective layer or throughout your project.
- Dimensions 10 oz: 25.4 x 6.35 x 6.35 cm; 10 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches
IDEAL FOR:
- Drawing media: Compatible with most drawing and painting media, except for oil pastels.
- Mixed media enhances the depth of gouache and admirably complements the finishes of mixed media works.
- A layered application can be used after SpectraFix Degas Fixative or on its own.
USAGE NOTES:
Incompatibility with Oil Pastels: Beeswax does not blend effectively with the non-drying mineral oils used in oil pastels; use SpectraFix Degas Fixative as an alternative.
Not suitable as a final varnish for acrylic or oil paintings: While it helps layer different media within oil or acrylic artworks, it is not intended for use as a final varnish. This is because it can absorb and release atmospheric moisture, a trait not shared by oils or acrylics. Over time, this 'breathing' process on top of non-absorbent oils or acrylics, though infrequent, could cause delamination.
Perfect for artists seeking a protective, natural finish that enhances their artwork while maintaining its beauty and integrity.
