Akua Water-Based Intaglio Printing Inks

Description

Akua Intaglio Printing Inks have a soy-based formulation for unmatched working properties. The ink will not skin in the jar or dry on your equipment, and it wipes off etching plates cleanly while leaving plenty of ink in the grooves. These inks dry by absorption into paper fibres, and once the print is dry, the ink is permanent. Only easy, safe soap-and-water clean-up is required.

Akua Intaglio Printing Inks are highly pigmented for brilliant colours and intense blacks. Use for Intaglio/Etching, Monotype, Relief, and Collagraph Printmaking.

Akua Intaglio soy-based permanent inks are a non-toxic, environmentally safe way to do printmaking.

Formatted for intaglio, they can also be applied with a brayer for relief, monotype, and collagraph printmaking techniques.

Combine Akua Intaglio Ink with a solar plate for a completely water-based intaglio process. Akua ink has a rich, thick consistency, dries slowly, and cleans up easily with soap and water.

Print from plastic, wood, linoleum, or metal plates. You don’t need any special ventilation, toxic solvents, or fireproof containers.

Identifying Pigments

Manufacturers are free to give their art supply colours whatever name they deem appropriate. Different manufacturers give the same colour different names, even if they use the same pigments. Therefore, names may vary from one brand to another. Akua tries to use the pigment's technical name for Akua Inks. For instance, the names Hansa Yellow, Phthalo Blue and Quinacridone Red refer to the specific pigment used in that ink. Some pigments may have several technical names. In that case, we select the most common name.

Colours such as Olive Green, Turquoise Blue and Payne’s Gray usually contain a mixture of several pigments. When identifying pigments used in ink or paint, research the colour index name, not the manufacturer's name.

Use this colour chart as a close approximation of the actual colour. For precise colour matching, refer to physical material samples.
