Akua Liquid Pigment Inks

Akua Liquid Pigments are innovative inks crafted from high-quality, lightfast pigments, enhanced by a selection of seven modifiers. This unique blend allows artists to adjust the viscosity and transparency of the inks for various creative techniques. Originally designed for monotype printmaking, these pigments are versatile enough for other applications, including Japanese woodcut printing and painting on paper.

Artists can customize their ink by combining concentrated Akua Liquid Pigments with Akua Intaglio Transparent Base to create bespoke intaglio or relief inks. The colours are formulated with lightfast pigments, pure gum binders, and honey, with no fillers or dryers, resulting in a vibrant, luminous finish when dry.

Cleanup is efficient and straightforward, requiring only water and a rag. The liquid pigments are fully compatible with Akua Intaglio, enabling artists to explore new colour combinations and relief techniques such as multi-plate overlays. Notably, they stay wet on the palette, allowing for beautiful prints on dry paper.

Printing can be done with an etching press or by hand using tools such as a Pin Press, baren, or spoon. Akua Liquid Pigments are available in 4 oz squeeze bottles with a spill-proof twist-off cap for easy use.
