Description

Artisan Varnish Remover for Oil Paintings

Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Varnish Remover is designed to remove Artisan water-mixable oil varnishes from finished paintings before re-varnishing. Use it for varnish removal, not as a painting medium.

For refreshing a varnished painting

When an Artisan varnish layer needs replacing, this remover is the companion product for lifting the existing finish. Varnish removal requires care to avoid disturbing the underlying paint.

Designed for removing Artisan water-mixable oil varnishes.
For varnish removal before re-varnishing.
Available in a 75 ml bottle.

Use with care

Read and follow the manufacturer's current label directions, including handling, ventilation and disposal precautions. Test a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding. Do not scrub or assume that colour coming off the painting is normal: stop if pigment transfers to the cloth or the paint surface changes.

For valuable, fragile or unfamiliar paintings, consult a professional conservator before attempting varnish removal. Do not assume that a water-mixable product is hazard-free.
