InstaGrit is an effective way to revive parts of your artwork that have become overly smooth, allowing you to hold more media. This adaptable, brush-on medium recreates a receptive surface that is perfect for coloured pencils, graphite, or pastels without adding extra texture.

It dries clear and matte, creating an invisible film that quickly picks up colour when pencil coating is brushed over it. This clear grip is perfect for overloaded areas where adding more layers isn't possible, or as a transparent, textured base for your chosen drawing medium. It is compatible with all kinds of paper, including sueded or gritted surfaces (except LaCarte), as well as Yupo, primed or unprimed canvas, wood panels, unglazed ceramic, stone, leather, glass, and other surfaces. It enhances and safeguards fabric artworks, but shouldn't be used on washable clothing.

Use soft and oil pastels, coloured pencils, graphite, charcoal, or combine with watercolour, gouache, casein, ink, wax paints, or layer other media into encaustic. Apply beneath oil or acrylic paints to prevent smudging of preliminary sketches. Not suitable as a final top coat over acrylic or oil paint.
