This mix of natural ingredients produces colours with a smooth, bright texture and offers lively, colourful shades. The Gum Arabic and honey combination offers exceptional application quality, producing superb washes. Then, this base is mixed with pigments and carefully ground. Sennelier ensures the pigments are wetted in purified water (without mineral salts) for 24 hours before mixing them with the bonding agent. This improves how the colours and bonding merge, bringing out the full beauty of the colours.

Sennelier watercolours are traditionally ground on slow-turning grindstones to avoid overheating the paste. This operation is carried out in several stages until the paste is as fine as possible, thereby removing any particles that could impair the wash's quality.
