Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours deliver the look, feel, and performance of traditional oil paint — without the need for hazardous solvents. Formulated by Winsor & Newton, Artisan paints thin and clean up with water, making them ideal for artists working in shared studios, classrooms, or at home where ventilation is limited.

How It Works
Artisan's linseed and safflower oils have been modified to accept water, creating a stable emulsion that retains the working characteristics of conventional oil colour. The result is a paint that handles like traditional oils — with the same buttery texture, blending ability, and surface sheen — while offering the convenience of water cleanup.
Understanding the Ratings
Each colour is rated for lightfastness (ASTM I–V, where I is most permanent), transparency (T = transparent, ST = semi-transparent, O = opaque, SO = semi-opaque), and permanence (AA = extremely permanent, A = permanent, B = moderately durable, C = fugitive). Series numbers (1–5) indicate relative cost based on pigment.
Available in 37ml tubes. Conforms to ASTM D4236.
