Description
Liquitex Professional Black Gesso prepares your painting surface with an opaque black ground. Start against a dark base rather than white to explore contrast and build your composition from a different tonal starting point.
Features
- Ready-mixed acrylic gesso with a matte black finish.
- Adds tooth to support paint adhesion.
- Provides a coloured ground for acrylic painting and properly prepared oil-painting supports.
- 237 ml / 8 oz size.
Surface preparation
Prepare your support before application, sanding hard or shiny surfaces as appropriate. Apply a thin coat with a wide, flat brush and allow at least 24 hours before painting. Sand and reapply if a smoother base is wanted.
Use undiluted or thin with up to 25% water. Follow the label for further thinning and for the coating requirements of your support. For oil painting, the existing product directions call for two to four coats with sanding between applications.
