Its opacity and matte finish are achieved through a high pigment load, resulting in a lower binder-to-pigment ratio than Winsor & Newton watercolours.
Cracking generally occurs due to two common causes: either not enough water is used for dilution, leading to a thicker film that cracks as it dries (note that the required water amount varies by colour), or multiple layers are applied, where the top layer may crack if the underlying layer absorbs the binder in the wet colour.
