Acrylic paints are a synthetic media made by suspending pigment in synthetic polymer emulsified by water. They are essentially plastic paints that are water-soluble and have good adhesive qualities. They are very stable. They resist oxidization and chemical decomposition, and will not yellow over time. Artists’ acrylic paints use high quality, finely ground and milled pigments, chosen for lightfastness and clarity of colour as well as mixing qualities. They also have more resin solids.
Artist Acrylics are designed with the professional artist in mind. Highly pigmented with a focus on single pigment colours for the cleanest mixing results, they tend to have viscosity similar to oil paints and can thus hold a brush stroke for impasto applications. Acrylics can be applied to canvas, boards, paper, panels, wood, and a number of other prepared surfaces.
Available in heavy body, fluid acrylics or flow, soft body acrylics, iridescent, pearl, and interference colours and acrylic paint markers.
