Original Arches Natural White Watercolour Paper has been prized by artists since the founding of Arches in 1492. This legendary paper is still made with natural cotton fibers, carefully selected for their absorbency and durability. Arches Watercolour Paper is mould-made. The cylinder-mould machine ensures that fibers are not closely aligned but are randomly oriented and densely interwoven in all directions, adding considerable strength to the paper and producing a natural, attractively textured surface, with the look and feel of a vintage hand-made paper.
Each sheet is acid-free, pH-neutral, gelatin-sized, and air-dried sheets have two natural deckle edges and are watermarked and embossed.
Arches-ﾠpapers are built on the knowledge and experience of yesterday's craftsmen, combined with modern innovation, creating important new features and improvements in the paper's performance. If stored and handled properly, they will remain beautiful and vibrant for centuries without conservation. This versatile paper is ideal for drawing, calligraphy and other mixed media.
Hot Press - The hot press finish is primarily used for portraits. Discreet and reserved, it focuses attention on the subject of the work, emphasizing the drawing. However, with such a subtle medium a certain degree of technical mastery is essential. Not just for watercolours, Arches Hot Press is also recommended for gouache, acrylic, coloured pencil, pen and ink and technical pens.
