Liquitex Acrylic Polymer Varnishes are applied over dry paint films, protecting the painting surface from the environment and ultraviolet light. These varnishes may be used to saturate and reveal a painting’s surface, thereby unifying the overall sheen. They are both permanent or removable and may be applied to both flexible and rigid supports.

Gloss Medium and Varnish

Liquitex Gloss Medium and Varnish is the workhorse of the Liquitex Mediums range. Gloss Medium and Varnish is an all-purpose medium that performs two functions. It can be used as a varnish and a fluid gloss medium. It improves the adhesion of paint film and increases colour depth, intensity, and gloss. It can also be used as a non-removable varnish to protect the surface and establish an even gloss sheen.

Gloss Varnish

This gloss varnish is a famous artist’s ground and sealer for all absorbent surfaces that will readily accept paint. Low viscosity-very fluid. Produces a Gloss finish. It does not drastically reduce colour depth as does Matte Medium. Water is soluble when wet. Good chemical and water resistance when dry. Dry to a non-tacky, hard, flexible surface resistant to dirt retention. Resist discolouring (non-yellowing, non-fogging) due to humidity, heat and ultraviolet light. Depending upon the substrate, it allows moisture to pass through (breathable).

High Gloss Varnish

This high gloss varnish is a famous artist’s ground and sealer for all absorbent surfaces that will readily accept paint. Low viscosity-very fluid. Produces a High Gloss finish. It does not drastically reduce colour depth as does Matte Medium. Water is soluble when wet. Good chemical and water resistance when dry. Dry to a non-tacky, hard, flexible surface resistant to dirt retention.

Matte Varnish

This matte varnish is the most famous artist’s ground and sealer for all absorbent surfaces that will readily accept paint. Low viscosity-very fluid. Produces a Matte finish. It does not drastically reduce colour depth as does Matte Medium. Water is soluble when wet. Good chemical and water resistance when dry. Dry to a non-tacky, hard, flexible surface resistant to dirt retention.

Satin Varnish

This satin varnish is the most famous artist’s ground and sealer for all absorbent surfaces that will readily accept paint. Low viscosity-very fluid. Produces a satin finish. It does not drastically reduce colour depth as does Matte Medium. Water is soluble when wet. Good chemical and water resistance when dry. Dry to a non-tacky, hard, flexible surface resistant to dirt retention.
