Soy-Based Akua Intaglio printmaking inks For Intaglio and Relief

Akua Intaglio printmaking inks are highly pigmented inks that are perfect for drypoint and etching. Akua inks are professional quality water-based inks. These inks were created by two printmakers, named Susan Rostow, and William Jung to achieve brilliant colours, intense blacks, and excellent properties. These inks have revolutionized the art of printmaking.

They are used for relief printmaking, monotype, and collagraph printmaking. These inks are soy-based and are a natural, non-toxic, environmentally safe way to do printmaking. They do not skin over in the jar and are very convenient and clean up easily with soap and water.

Akua Intaglio printmaking inks are a printmaker’s dream ink. These inks were designed for intaglio printmaking, but these inks can also be used with a brayer for relief printmaking, monotype, and collagraph. They are so versatile that they can print from any plastic, wood, linoleum, or even metal plate.  Akua printmaking inks have a rich and thick consistency. They are also preferred because they do not contain any driers, so offer a long working time for monotype printing or wiping the Akua ink-making plates.

Advantages of Akua Intaglio inks

Since Akua Intaglio inks are made from the highest-quality pigments, they are not only loved by printmakers, but also by artists like painters, mixed media artists, photographers, and animators. Akua Inks opens up possibilities beyond the expectations of these artists.

The main advantages of these inks are as under-

  • They do not use chemical solvents for cleaning, simple soap, brush and water are enough.
  • They are easy to clean, making time management better for printing.
  • They do not skin or harden, hence no need for hazardous chemicals like anti-skin sprays.
  • They do not dry on a non-absorbent surface, so save the labour of cleaning the palette or the tools.
  • They do not exude harmful fumes, saving the cost of expensive ventilation systems.
  • They are very versatile and can be used for various printmaking techniques.

Most of the Akua printmaking Inks are formulated with single pigments. When an artist has his way to mix colours, a single-pigment colour will mix more predictably and to the artist’s choice. When the manufacturer mixes and packages two or more pigments for the convenience and ease of the artist, it is known as a pre-mixed blend.

Akua printmaking Inks come in an extensive range of 25 colours. Akua liquid pigment can be mixed into Akua Intaglio inks or transparent bases to achieve a variety of new colours for printmaking.

Akua Printmaking Plates are made from crystal clear, and good quality PETG plastic. They are thin and flexible, which makes them easier to work with than traditional printing plates. Incision of lines for dry point etching is easier because of their non-porous, and malleable surface.

You will genuinely fall in love with the Akua Intaglio printmaking inks seeing the excellent quality of the prints without many adjustments to your former working techniques.
