ENGRAVINGS:

The prehistoric Engraving epoch evidently goes back 3,000 years on walls of caves, on stone, clay, bone and ivory. Engravings are drawing and pictures that are incised (carved/scribed/engraved) into different materials to create spectacular graphic representational art, drawing or reproduction prints.

Silverpoint (or metal point) Drawing is a time-honoured art form of metal point drawing experiences; due to the artists resurgent art form. As far as the medieval aera, all the way through the Renaissance Silverpoint Drawings withstood the test of time intact. The medium displays the artist’s dexterous technical skills encouraging precision, depth, control and richness.

Scratchboard or scraperboard was introduced in the 19th Century in Britain and France, and became well-known mid (20th) century America, when the reproduction medium replaced wood, metal and linoleum engraving.

Sgraffito (Italian: “scratched”) ware originated via Islāmic potters and traditionalized throughout the Middle East as early as 1735 by German settlers in colonial settlers. The 18th-century scratch blue class of English white stoneware was decorated with sgraffito patterns with a touched of blue.

Then evolved in to Visual Arts, a textured technique used in painting, pottery, and glass, which consists of putting down a preliminary surface, covering it with another, and then scratching the superficial layer in such a way that the textured pattern or shape revealing the sub colour.
