Artists have preferred artists' oil colours made with walnut oil for centuries. It provides rich, vibrant colour that is naturally more alive and brilliant. Free-flowing and slower drying, our oil colour enables delicate passages of finely blended colour that will retain its brilliance over time.

M. Graham Artists' Oil Paints are made with a walnut oil binder, an alternative to traditional linseed oil that artists have preferred for centuries. Today, it's known that Renaissance masters such as Da Vinci and Durer generally favoured walnut oil over linseed oil.

Walnut oil provides rich, vibrant colour that is naturally more alive and brilliant than traditional linseed oil. Free-flowing and slow drying, M. Graham's walnut oil formulation enables delicate passages of finely blended colour that retain their brilliance over time.

Why Walnut Oil?

M Graham chose to build their oil paint with this oil because its unique refractive index and non-yellowing nature produce a more naturally alive and brilliant colour. In addition, walnut oil increases the amount of pigment in each colour, resulting in extraordinary richness, colour saturation, brilliance and tinting strength.

Solvent Free: Their commitment to the artist extends to the environment. At M. Graham, we have freed ourselves from solvents in our work environment. You can release your studio of dangerous solvents as well. Using walnut oil to clean brushes is a natural way to remove colour without creating a solvent hazard.
