For two hundred years Austria’s Cretacolor has been known throughout Europe for manufacturing the highest quality drawing materials. They are credited with the invention of modern graphite lead and have used their two centuries of experience to create the most comprehensive range of artist-quality drawing materials in the world. From traditional pencils, leads and sticks to the innovative woodless graphite monolith and graphite water soluble pencils, Cretacolor provides the perfect choice for all sketching and drawing applications.

The development of the modern Cretacolor pencil was made in 1863 when Carl Brevillier founded the Zeus Pencil Factory in Vienna. The money for this project originated from the industrial production of screws for railways. But Brevillier had found his true calling in art. His goal was to create high-quality writing and drawing implement that everybody could afford. Finally it was possible for many people to enjoy and practice art who had previously not been able to afford art materials.

The ideal companions to your favourite pastels, Fine Art Pastel Pencils are superb for fine detail work. Enveloped in a protective case of cedar, 72 luminous colours make for portable pastel perfection. Rich pigmentation and high lightfastness guarantee brilliant results.

These pencils are excellent for detail work, as they can be sharpened to a point. Colours can be mixed with one another or smudged. Available individually or in sets: Smaller sets provide a good colour range to experiment, while larger sets are the perfect complement to a collection of traditional soft pastels.
